Problem
There was a notable lack of communities dedicated to designer-developer collaboration where individuals could work together on purpose-driven projects. Existing open-source communities predominantly focused on developers, leaving designers with limited opportunities to contribute meaningfully alongside developers in a structured way.
Solution
Aimset was built as a community platform, inspired by the now-defunct Buildspace, to specifically connect designers and developers around shared causes. We provided a space where teams could form, work on projects together, and experience seamless design-to-development handoffs. A dedicated Discord community supported real-time collaboration, mentorship, and knowledge sharing, fostering over 100 active projects in its first year.
Impact
Over a year, Aimset grew to a community of 768 members, successfully catalysing over 100 active projects. The platform enabled designers and developers to work together more effectively, lowering barriers to contribution, improving cross-discipline understanding, and supporting the development of tech solutions that make a positive difference.
