Problem
Existing car resale platforms in New Zealand often suffer from poor visual design, lack of user-friendly features, and high platform fees. Essential functionalities like car comparison tools and robust filtering options are not commonly available, making it difficult for buyers to find the right vehicle. Additionally, trust and security are major concerns, as users struggle to assess the condition of second-hand cars, and many platforms lack proper listing verification.
Solution
We developed a comprehensive e-commerce platform tailored to the New Zealand car market. Key features include:
Intuitive Information Architecture: Simplified navigation with separate flows for buyers, private sellers, dealers, and administrators.
Vehicle Registration Integration: Sellers enter the vehicle registration number, auto-fetching details from the government register and checking for fraudulent or stolen vehicles.
Listing Verification: Admin-reviewed listings to ensure authenticity and build trust.
Detailed Vehicle Information: Display of service history, warrant of fitness (WoF) status, and high-quality images.
Comparison Tool: Users can compare up to three cars side-by-side (two on mobile).
Advanced Filtering Options: Filters for price range, make, model, year, mileage, and WoF status.
Personalized Dealer Dashboard: Insights and management tools for dealers.
Comprehensive Admin Panel: Moderation of listings, user management, complaint handling, ad campaign management, and website analytics.




Impact
The platform addresses key user concerns by providing a secure, transparent, and user-friendly environment for buying and selling used cars. It enhances trust through verified listings and detailed vehicle information, streamlining the decision-making process for users.
